Predator and Wildlife Awareness

Introduction

This 4 hour instructor led classroom course was created by Karelian Wildlife Management Services Ltd. and is designed to promote wildlife safety for workers and outdoor enthusiasts in remote and rural areas where animal encounters are common.

  • Bear Ecology (Differences between Grizzly and Black Bear)
  • Bear Behavior
  • Human/Wildlife Conflicts (Bear Encounters, Wildlife Encounters (Defensive and Predatory))
  • Response to Bear Encounters, Grey Wolf, Cougar, Coyotes, and Moose
  • Non-Lethal Deterrents, Noise Deterrents, Physical Deterrents
  • Proper Storage of Deterrents
  • Practical training includes: Deterrent Training (Inert Bear Spray, Bear Bangers and Single Shell Launchers)
